I’m very happy that my poem “Beach with No Name” found a home in The Fourth River Literary Journal. The Fourth River, which focuses on our natural and man-made environments, is published by Chatham University’s MFA program. Enjoy!
“The Old Neighborhood” in Silver Birch Press
I’m happy to have my poem “The Old Neighborhood” included in the Silver Birch Press series “When I Moved.” That’s me on the left in the photo, preparing for my very first move with my sister Katie.
“Another Hot One” in Poetry Breakfast
Come visit one of my favorite places in the world, Willard Beach in South Portland, Maine.
“Closing Time” in Poetry Breakfast
I’m happy to have my poem “Closing Time” up at Poetry Breakfast. It’s a fun poem about the end of summer, a time that always feels a bit manic here in coastal Maine (and probably everywhere). The season is so short and sweet and we know what’s coming.

“Weatherbeaten” in The Ekphrastic Review
I’m happy my poem “Weatherbeaten” is up at The Ekphrastic Review with four of the Winslow Homer paintings that inspired it. It’s about art, dogs, and the beach, three of my favorite things. And aging, which is a challenge whether the family member is human or animal.

“The Events of 1989” in Tinderbox Poetry Journal
“The Events of 1989” is one of my favorite poems, I think of it as a signature poem. I’m thrilled it’s found the perfect home at Tinderbox Poetry Journal.
Trump Fatigue: “I Read the News Today, Oh Boy” in Yellow Chair Review
I’m excited to have my Trump poem, “I Read the News Today, Oh Boy” included in Yellow Chair Review.

I’m primarily a pretty traditional narrative poet but I’m also interested in visual poetry like this poem. I wanted to express my frustration with the media’s obsession with Donald Trump. I used 50 words for our 50 states, and the title is a line from The Beatles’ song “A Day in the Life” by John Lennon.
Unrequited: An Anthology of Love Poems about Inanimate Objects
Unrequited: An Anthology of Love Poems about Inanimate Objects launched Friday at Upshur Street Books in Washington D.C. Kelly Ann Jacobson edited this wonderful collection of meditations on the objects of our obsessions. Cigarettes, musical instruments, lava lamps, wedding gifts, and lawn gnomes are celebrated and mourned. I am so pleased to be included in this very talented group of poets. My contribution is a funny but very sincere love poem to my fat jeans, “Sweet Forgiveness.” Unrequited is available on Amazon.
Pittsburgh Poetry Houses
I’m very happy to a poem included in Pittsburgh Poetry Houses this fall. Pittsburgh Poetry Houses is a wonderful public art project. Tiny structures mounted around the city house free poems! Such a cool, fun way to get poetry to the people!
Poems are also posted online, so I’ll share my contribution when it’s up. I am also very excited to have a poem included in The Fourth River this fall. The Fourth River, a journal of nature and place-based writing, is published by Chatham University’s M.F.A. program — also in Pittsburgh! Feeling very popular in the great poetry town of Pittsburgh.
